Are you familiar with the exam stress?
The truth is, you can study as hard as you physically and mentally can but if you let your nerves get the best of you, the chances are you will forget everything and end up missing out the questions you could have easily answered.
So here are 4 tips to help you overcome the nerves and achieve the highest grade you possibly can.
1) Do not miss out the harder topics during revision.
If you find some topics more challenging then others, please do not leave or ignore them. Instead seek for help from your school teachers, private tutors or even the internet! By missing topics, you essentially will enter the exam room knowing that there is a high risk of you not being able to answer some questions which at the end of the day will make you even more nervous!
2) Staring at your books does not count as revision!
Yes you know exactly what we are talking about! Do you sometimes, and by sometimes I mean oftentimes, end up staring at the book instead of actually reading it and then trick yourself into believing you studied hard enough and deserve a well earned rest! Well... HOLD RIGHT THERE! The revision police is on to you!
Be honest with your revision, make sure you set yourself an end of topic tests to track the progress of your revision.
3) Exam style question practice
Sometimes our students focus so much on worksheets that they forget to practice with past papers.
The past paper revision is crucial and you should set aside a minimum of 4 weeks to just practice answering them. This exercise will make you more familiarised with the exam styled questions and how the marking works.
Ok so the day has arrived! You are in the exam and you have done all the above but you still feel nervous.
It is time for you to take a deep breath and slowly exhale. Do this three times and then tell yourself YOU CAN DO THIS! But please avoid chanting "YES I CAN" during the exam as this might cause some issues with the people monitoring the exam conditions....
So that concludes our top 4 tips. Ultimately remember:
More knowledge = More confidence = Less stress
